If Jamar Daniel Rogers wanted to know what love is, he saw a glimpse on Monday’s episode of “The Voice.” The Booker T. Washington High School alum was paired with fellow Cee Lo teammate Jamie to sing Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is” on NBC’s popular reality-competition show. “You owned it,” Adam Levine told Jamar, echoing my thoughts exactly when he said he and fellow coaches Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera should’ve picked Jamar for their teams back during the blind auditions. No surprise, Cee Lo picked Jamar. “I’m the luckiest guy in the world,” Jamar said backstage. But the coaches started off the show picking the wrong people for their respective teams, in my ever-so humble opinion. First up, Xtina pitted Jeff and Sera to sing “Chain of Fools.” Xtina not only turned her chair around during Sera’s blind-audition performance but grabbed a mic and sang with the siren from Hotlanta. And that’s why I could’ve taken an extra-long break from the show Monday, because Xtina ended up picking Sera, who said before she took the stage, “I’m gonna pull out my diva card.” Well, Xtina validated it like a parking ticket. I felt bad for Jeff because he was dang good and more emotive than his younger competitor. Even Jewel, Sera’s mentor, pointed that out. But whatever. Cee Lo and Adam (whom I think I trust the most as a coach so far) thought Jeff nailed it. Blake said Sera “turns me on,” and, of course, Xtina picked her in the end. Next, Blake pitted Charlotte Sometimes and Lex Land to sing “Pumped Up Kicks.” “You can’t really win against a Jersey girl,” Charlotte said. Yeah, you can — or so I thought. Lex came off too timid because Blake went with Char-Char in the end. Charlotte’s a talented singer; but Miss Jersey rubbed me the wrong way when she was all, “I want to destroy her.” Guess that’s the attitude you have to have in this biz, huh? Later, Cee Lo pitted Sarah and Juliet to sing Rod Stewart’s “Stay With Me,” picking Juliet in the end. Sorry, not a fan
