The Players: Tiger Woods opens with a 2-over 74

The TPC at Sawgrass hasn’t been a particularly magical place for  and nothing about that changed in the first round of the Players Championship today.
Woods shot a 2-over 74 on the course on which he has had only four top-10 finishes since 2000 (he won the Players in 2001 and was runner-up in 2000). The last two years,  from the tournament because of injuries. This time, trying to find his groove again after missing the cut last week at the Wells Fargo Championship, he finished the first round by failing to break 70 for the ninth consecutive round.
